Mr. Jeeva began his professional journey as a Customs Superintendent, serving in various divisions including Enforcement and Prosecution. His transition into the legal field began with Messrs Kumar & Co., followed by his tenure at Messrs Karpal Singh & Co. These early experiences provided him with a strong grounding in law, enforcement, and regulatory affairs.

Armed with extensive experience and a deep understanding of the legal landscape, he established his own firm, Messrs Jeevaretnam & Co., where he has served as Managing Partner for nearly three decades. Under his leadership, the firm grew steadily, earning a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and client-centered service.

He specialized in corporate law, offering advice and opinions on a wide range of company-related matters and litigating commercial disputes. Known for his drafting acumen, he prepared commercial documents such as sale of business and share agreements, joint ventures, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, and other related contracts. His expertise in shipping and the Law of Carriers led to his appointment as Legal Adviser to the Penang Freight Forwarders Association and the Association of Malaysian Hauliers.

He also served as a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board. With the firm’s rapid local and international expansion, he rebranded it as Jeeva Partnership, marking a new chapter in its continued growth.
